For my son's class on Valentine's I made ice cream cone cupcakes. They were a big hit! I placed them in a plastic cup and put candies at the bottom of each.

Spooky Halloween Boxes
These were made using the cricut cartridge Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. I found some really nice Halloween paper. I used a spooky stamp and glued wiggly eyes to the letter O's. I filled each with Halloween treats for my son's class.

Diaper Cake
This was the first time I made a diaper cake. My sister in law was having a baby boy so I decided to try to make a diaper cake for her baby shower.
I bought one package of diapers size 1. I rolled each diaper and tied it with an elastic band. You can also use a ribbon. I bought 3 cake tiers in different sizes and started to arrange all the rolled diapers together starting with the bigger tier. To hold all the diapers together I used one big rubber band. I then stacked all the tiers and tied a thick ribbon around each tier so the elastic band wouldn't show. I bought some baby booties, socks, baby cap, some bath toys, washcloths etc. to decorate the diaper cake. I tied each with ribbon. For the top of the cake I bought a Winnie the Pooh stacking toy.
Yoshi Goodie Bag and Super Mario hat
I also made Yoshi goody bags for each of the boys. They were made using green lunch bags that I got at Micheal's. From the CoolParty Blog. I downloaded templates for the goodie bags.
I also made the Super Mario hats. I bought red baseball hats and cut out a white circle on cotton fabric. The M was cut on red fabric. I used heat and bond and ironed it on on the hats. Each guest got a hat.
Super Mario Mushroom Cupcakes
For Julian's 8th birthday party with his school friends he had asked me to make it a Super Mario birthday party. So I decided to make mushroom cupcakes. I iced the cupcakes with butter cream icing and topped them with white chocolate molding wafers. I cut out stripes of white cardstock. With black cardstock cut two eye shapes (I used my stampin up punch) use a white gel pen to put two small white stripes on the black eye pieces. Then I taped them around the base of each cupcake. I placed them on a cupcake stand that I had made. My son and his friends thought the cupcakes were "so cool!!"
Gummie Bear Hats
Julian was in a talent show in school. They were presenting the Gummie bear song. He let me know he was doing this two days before the talent show. So I decided to make the group of six kids some bear hats. Yes......I am crazy!!! So I rushed to Micheal's and bought different color baseball hats for each of the kids. I already had brown fabric I bought peach color felt for the insides of the ears.
I cut the baseball hats on the sides with two slits with an exacto knife. I made a template for the bear ears and for the inside of the ears. I used cardboard from some empty cereal boxes to put inside the bear ears to keep them standing up. I then put a brown fabric piece down on top of that the cardboard piece and then the other brown fabric piece. I then sewed the ear together. I put the peach color piece on top of the brown piece and hot glued it on. You can also sew it on but I didn't have a lot of time. I put the ears into the slit that I had cut on the baseball hats. I hot glued the ears to the inside of the baseball hats.
Here is my little red Gummie Bear!!! |
Baby's Flower Pot
I made this paper flower arrangement using the Cricut cartridge Walk in my garden. The flowers were cut using different sizes and I just layered them on top of each other using a hot glue gun. I put floral tape on the skewers and glued those on to the flowers. I also used ink on the edges of each flower. For the middle of the flowers I used either buttons or embellishments. I found wooden animals and glued those on skewers as well.
For the flower pot I tied a ribbon around the pot and used floral foam to hold the flowers. I put green tissue paper on top of the foam.

Sam and Ethan's Baby Quilt
I made two baby quilts for my sister and my girlfriend who had a complicated pregnancy. Her son was in the hospital in intensive care for 6 months. I decided to make him a Quilt. It was my first time making a quilt so I decided to keep it simple.
Materials needed: I bought 8 or 9 different materials and about 12" of each. I had enough to make two different quilts. I cut stripes of fabric in 2", 2 1/2", 3 1/2" and 4 1/2" by 32". The borders were cut 2 1/2" but you can go thicker if you want.
I bought about 46" of fabric for the back. You need a little bit more then the length of the quilt. I laid out the stripes so they wouldn't end up near each other and I varied the sizes of stripes. Sew the stripes with 1/4" seams.
After all the stripes were sewn together. I put the cricut cuts before the borders.
I used heat and bond lite to iron on the Cricut cuts. I also sewed around each letter and the branch and bird.
Next I put the borders on the sides first and then the top and bottom. I then laid it out. The backing first with the wrong side up, then batting and the top of the quilt. Pin it in lots of places.....the more pins the better. Pick it up and sew a curvy stitch on each of the stripe seams. You can also put a binding the same color as the border if you want.
The size of the quilt should be 36" across by 46" down(or close to it)
Good Luck!!!
